We were thrilled to find out that Maps Museum was among the 40 institutions that got the chance to take part in the Incubation Programme. The Incubation Programme, consisting on sessions moderated by museum specialists and service providers was an intensive training period for our museum staff. The sessions covered aspects concerning strategy, skills, innovation and also introduced a series of practical instruments such as the periodic table of skills, the museum innovation barometer or The Digital Culture Compass. Some platforms such as Miro supported a neat communication and collaboration between participants. It was a great opportunity for our museum for a better understanding of our organization, of digitalisation, empathy, communication and networking. This Incubation Programme definitely highlighted our skills and brought us together as team.
The Maps Museum developed a pilot project with the name Hands on the Map! This project is educational, its main goals being to diminish the gap between museum education and formal education, while simultaneously promoting the museum collection.
